AC Milan v Tottenham: Betting Preview
Match Analysis
The form, moods and morale aren’t great both in London and Milan. The Spurs were just thrashed away from home against Leicester last weekend.
Milan on the other hand finally won at home against Torino last weekend after 4 bitter losses including two losses against bitter rivals Inter Milan, one valid for the Italian Serie A and another one valid for the Italian Super Cup.
Team news seems more of a problem for the Spurs as Bentancur will be missed and the midfield will be weak.
While Milan won’t have Ibrahimovic, this is a very old injury now.
The biggest problems of both squads seem to be their moment, although Milan naturally will be more confident as they have a big history in the tournament.
The Italians boast 7 Champions League trophies while Tottenham still dreams about winning their first one.
Betting Preview
The Champions League seems like a long shot for both sides in this game. There’s little advantage to the hosts in the 1×2 market as well as Asian Handicap.
The odds for the victory of the Italian hosts are 2.5 on average in the 1×2 decimal system.
Odds for a draw stand at 3.20 whilst the odds for a victory of the English visitors are 3.0 on average.
The Asian Handicap market has stabilized with even odds between level and 1/4 ball lines.
Perhaps Milan -0 @1.80 on average is a bit of a stretch considering the poor moment of Tottenham and the home factor of a team with such a history in the tournament.
But the live betting market is always a more interesting opportunity when the scenario is a bit cloudy like here, so perhaps a bet on Milan -0 @1.8+ could be more interesting if the Rossoneri start the game better.
In the over/under market, the odds have stabilized at over/under 2.25 @1.92 / 1.98 after a start at 2.5, which means the market expects a closed game and the visitors to focus on counter-attacking opportunities.
While some experienced punters saw some value in the odds of Under 2.5 @2.0, they are now gone and under lines will only become attractive again in case a goal is scored. The reason behind it is the market often overestimates the chances of many goals happening in a game once the 0-0 score is gone.
As Tottenham wouldn’t be totally unhappy with a draw and would quite love a 0-1 score, in case they begin the match better than the Italian hosts, under bets and +0.25 / +0 Tottenham bets could prove to be very interesting.
In summary, I guess the best approach here will be to follow the game live, although many traders will prefer to focus their attention on the exciting clash between PSG and FC Bayern which will happen at the same time as the clash between AC Milan and the Spurs in Italy.
