PSG v FC Bayern: Champions League Betting Preview

Match Analysis

Many expect PSG to win everything in France, and that includes a good part of their fan base. However, the big names that join them don’t want to win the French stuff. They join them to be part of their dream of winning the Champions League eventually.

There were rumours of a supposed fight between Neymar, Marquinhos and Luis Campos, a Portuguese director of PSG. The argument supposedly happened because of a lack of focus of Neymar in the last games.

Whether the rumours are true or not, a lot hasn’t worked since the arrival of Neymar in France. The Brazilian star expected to have no one above him, and that never happened. Mbappé climbed through the ranks and became a more important name than him.

Also, the Brazilian reportedly improved in terms of commitment ahead of the World Cup which matters a lot to him, but after yet another poor World Cup, his focus on the PSG stuff declined, which in my opinion was absolutely expected.

The Champions League may be more interesting and we may see a different Neymar in this game, and they’ll also have Messi and Mbappé returning from injury on the bench according to the team news.

It’s quite possible that Franch football action just doesn’t inspire the stars of PSG all the time, so their recent problems and losses against Monaco and Marseille may not really affect them that much.

FC Bayern, however, is also not having an easy time in Germany as they are only one point clear above Union Berlin, the rising star of the Bundesliga.

We can expect a levelled game in terms of squad quality of both teams, although PSG stands out in terms of how famous the names of some players are.

FC Bayern has been consistent in the last seasons and they won’t be a very welcome visitor.

Betting Preview: 1×2, O/U and AH

The market doesn’t see a big advantage to any teams. The potential home factor advantage of the French hosts seems to have been neutralized in the odds by their bad moment as well as the stability and potential of the German visitors.

In the 1×2 market, the victory of the hosts and visitors is separated by just 20 clicks with PSG ‘1’ odds standing at 2.69 and FC Bayern @2.49.

The market doesn’t seem very impressed by the big famous attacking trio of Messi, Neymar and Mbappé as they seem conscious that this hasn’t been helping PSG enough in practice lately.

Let’s check the situation in the Asian Handicap markets.

In the Asian Handicap market we have a DNB (level ball) scenario with Bayern Munich favourites with odds of -0 @1.85 on average.

The over/under scenario has odds of over/under 3 around 2.0 which seems about correct as both sides have a lot of attacking quality.

I don’t see a ton of value standing out at any line here, but if FC Bayern starts the game better, this level ball could be interesting.
