Switzerland v Israel – Betting Preview

Switzerland Summary

Switzerland has never qualified for three consecutive UEFA European Championships and they are determined to correct that, and continue to build a stronger reputation.

On the weekend they made the perfect start to the qualification campaign with a highly impressive 0-5 victory ‘away’ to Belarus.

The match actually took place in a neutral venue but even still, Switzerland was away from home and it was not expected to be such an easy match.

The boss Murat Yakin will have been pleased with the result and it was important rebuild confidence after being hammered 6-1 by Portugal in the knockouts of the World cup.

They expect to make the running in this Group where they boast the highest FIFA ranking of the nations involved.

The Swiss will expect a comfortable win here, anything less a disaster.

Israel Summary

Israel come into their second qualifying game on a reasonable high having earned a draw against a Kosovo in Tel Aviv last time out.

They will love to get a draw from this match too, anything more would be a huge boost to their limited chances of qualifying through the group.

Israel sits 64 places below Switzerland in the FIFA rankings. Offering them some reason to be optimistic however, they haven’t lost on their last four trips to play the Swiss nation.

Israel are aiming to reach a first-ever European finals. Their last attempt fell short at the play-off stage to Scotland on penalties. They have targeting improving their away form as being crucial to give them a real chance, as they’ve lost five straight ECQ matches on the road.

Betting Analysis

Looking at the 1×2 market first. Switzerland is the big favourite @ 1.34.

The draw is 4.90 while the shock away win is @ 9.50.

Moving onto the Asian handicap betting for this contest. Switzerland -1.5 is @ 1.96 and this is a slight preference.

It is probable the home side win to zero here. Only one of Switzerland’s last six ECQ matches have seen both teams score, and this bodes well for a Swiss win by two goals, as it is almost certain they will score and could well keep another clean sheet. Israel +1.5 is @1.87.

Looking at The Under/Over goal betting last of all. The line is set at 2.75, the Over is @ 1.80 and the Under is @ 1.99.

The Swiss are an open and entertaining side, their last seven matches produced an average of not far off 4 goals per game, so a full win looks possible and a half win is expected.
